Last November, we prepared several boxes of equipment donated by the Zoo de Barcelona, including uniforms and gloves for the Reserva Wild Forest . The center rescues and rehabilitates wild animals. It is in the province of Barcelona, sitting amidst a natural landscape of forests and meadows where some of the rescued animals live semi-freely.

The total equipment weighs 68.85 kg, and the staff will use it for their daily tasks. The reserve does remarkable work with animals considered game species, which often don’t receive the same attention as other, more media-covered species do. They have a collaboration agreement with the Catalan Government as an authorized center to host invasive species, such as Vietnamese pigs and their hybrids with wild boars, ensuring ethical management of these animals that displace native wildlife. The center also conducts awareness and educational activities, and offers public visits.

SOS Primates has a partnership with Barcelona Zoo to send donated materials to various wildlife rescue centers, not just primate centers. In the photos, you can see some of the tasks carried out at the center, as well as the team from La Reserva Fundación Wild Forest using the materials we provided during a visit from SOS Primates and some of its collaborators. Thanks to everyone involved: Barcelona Zoo, La Reserva Fundación Wild Forest (especially María Figuerola), and of course, the volunteer chain that made it all possible—Laia, David, Núria, Aurora, Jose, and Raúl.

If you plan to travel to countries with primate centers or other wildlife facilities and would like to help, don’t hesitate to contact us so we can coordinate a shipment during your trip. If you’d like to learn more about this project and collaborate with us, please write to info@sosprimates.org.
