The past 24th of March we woke up to the sad news of the passing of Dr. Biruté Galdikas, one of the biggest worldwide experts in orangutans, who dedicated 55 years towards their conservation, including biological discoveries until then unknown, which made her a brilliant scientist, primatologist and conservationist.
From SOS Primates we send our condolences to the family and to Orangutan Foundation International for their sad loss. For our association it is a very deep loss as we were linked to her labour and because our president Raúl Cabrera collaborated with her project in Borneo, at the Orangutan Care Centre and Quarantine Facility, in the rehabilitation and release of orangutans. RIP.
