Some time ago, the SOS Pri­ma­tes team visi­ted one of the hor­se and farm ani­mal sanc­tua­ries run by ADE (Asso­cia­tion for the Pro­tec­tion of Equi­nes). This is one of two res­cue cen­tres main­tai­ned through dona­tions and gui­ded visits.

The sanc­tuary we visi­ted is home to 43 hor­ses, seve­ral don­keys, and other res­cued farm ani­mals, all of whom have been saved from a variety of dif­fi­cult situa­tions, inclu­ding abu­se, aban­don­ment once they were no lon­ger con­si­de­red “use­ful,” or neglect cau­sed by a lack of resour­ces and res­pon­si­ble care.

During our visit, we also deli­ve­red 35 kg of dona­ted sup­plies from the Bar­ce­lo­na Zoo, inclu­ding uni­forms, work clothing, glo­ves, and face masks. The­se mate­rials are inva­lua­ble to the staff and volun­teers who care for the ani­mals and are another mea­ning­ful way of sup­por­ting ani­mal welfare.

As many of you know, SOS Pri­ma­tes coor­di­na­tes the collec­tion and dis­tri­bu­tion of dona­ted equip­ment, not only for pri­ma­te res­cue cen­tres but also for other ani­mal sanc­tua­ries in need.
