The SOS Primates awards recognise people and institutions that contribute to the preservation of primates and their habitat in the category “Primate conservation” (with a prize money of €1,000) and appoint those that put their futures at risk through the “Threat to Primates” award.
The Jury has chosen to award the “Primate conservation” award in this first edition to primatologist Carmen Vidal for her enormous and distinguished trajectory in research, conservation and scientific outreach about primates. Carmen has been one of the creators and promoters of Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Centre (LPRC), Lwiro Primates, at the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
