Sad news to end the year… another orphaned baby arrived at Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Centre (CRPL), Lwiro Primates. Makasi, meaning strong in the local language (Lingala), has been given this name because of her strength and resilience demonstrated prior to her rescue. She was seized from poachers in the Kisimba area, thanks to park rangers and several local associations.

She arrived at the CRPL injured, weak, very thin as you can see, and quite traumatised, not trusting the team. We are sure that the care provided at the centre will comfort her after losing her mother and her family group.

From SOS Primates we would like to thank all those involved and of course, those of you who help us making this association possible, and therefore, your help to the conservation of primates.

We hope that by 2021 this situation will come to an end, and that human beings will find a balance with a planet of which they are not lord and master, but simply another guest.
