This week #WorldChimpanzeeDay was celebrated, a date proposed by the Jane Goodall Institute to raise awareness and promote protection for this remarkable species.

At SOS Primates, we support the 129 chimpanzees living at the Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Center (CRPL), Lwiro Primates, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where each animal has a difficult story. Felix and Mara, for example, were rescued from poachers and arrived at the center after being transported in a car. You can see how frightened and sad they looked in the photo.

Today we were at Barcelona Zoo with an information stand where visitors could also contribute donations to help provide food for the chimpanzees at CRPL.

We would like to thank everyone who came to support us, the zoo staff from many departments, including Marketing, Management, Administration, Conservation, and Maintenance, and especially our wonderful volunteer team who made the day possible: Núria, David, Estel, Mònica, Aurora, and Raúl.
