From the DR Con­go we recei­ve the news that ebo­la is impac­ting an already extre­mely com­pli­ca­ted secu­rity situa­tion. The­re has been a con­fir­med case of ebo­la in the Lwi­ro area.

We are being reas­su­red that both, the staff and ani­mals hou­sed by the LPRC, Lwi­ro Pri­ma­tes, are okay.

As a safety mea­su­re the cen­tre has been con­fi­ned, with 15 mem­bers of the staff that will have no con­tact with the exte­rior whi­le this situa­tion lasts, and the hygie­ne pro­to­cols have been rein­for­ced. All the­se fac­tors com­pli­ca­te the situa­tion to con­ti­nue fee­ding the over 200 pri­ma­tes hou­sed at the cen­tre, such as little Nzu­ri, in the picture.
