Today is the International Primate Day! We’d like to share an important reflection on this special day; how can you help primates? Not everything is about doing voluntary work in Africa or taking a course at home. A small gesture, like not changing the phone when a new model is out, is a big contribution. Did you know that a  mineral called coltan is used to produce electronic devices( tablets, laptops, cellphones…)? This mineral is extracted from the Democratic Republic of Congo’s forests, and it implicates the destruction of many species, like gorillas or chimps.

Next Saturday, September 3rd we’ll give out this information at the Barcelona Zoo and the Zoo Aquarium de Madrid, There we’ll place our stands, and you’ll be able to collaborate with SOS Primates. Also, on Sunday the 4th we’ll be at the V Fira Animalista de Mataró an animal fair which will be held at the Firal del Parc Central Nou, in Barcelona, from 10 AM to 20 PM. In fact, we require one or two people that can lend us a hand in this event…If you think you can come by or you live near the area, contact us here or at  info@sosprimates.org and we’ll coordinate it.

The donations gathered in these events will be employed to cover the food expenses of the more than 200 orphan primates that are sheltered by the Primate Rehabilitation Center of Lwiro (CRPL), Lwiro Primates, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
