Our collea­gues at SOS Pri­ma­tes were at Zoo Aqua­rium de Madrid sha­ring infor­ma­tion about pri­ma­tes, the dan­gers they face and fun­drai­sing towards LPRC, Lwi­ro Pri­ma­tes, at the DRCon­go, which lately has been living in a situa­tion of war con­flict in its surroun­dings, whe­re not only human pri­ma­tes are the most affec­ted. Wars bring along pri­ma­te habi­tat des­truc­tion and con­sum­ption of bush­meat as sus­te­nan­ce for the rebel groups that enter the jun­gle. The 1st of Sep­tem­ber cele­bra­tes Inter­na­tio­nal Pri­ma­te Day.

Pic­tu­red, an orphan red-tai­led mon­key, named Kitu­tu, who arri­ved at the LPRC (a little whi­le ago) in this cage that poa­chers make with lia­nas and bran­ches, after being con­fis­ca­ted by the autho­ri­ties, and that sadly didn’t make it to adulthood.
