Our colleagues at SOS Primates were at Zoo Aquarium de Madrid sharing information about primates, the dangers they face and fundraising towards LPRC, Lwiro Primates, at the DRCongo, which lately has been living in a situation of war conflict in its surroundings, where not only human primates are the most affected. Wars bring along primate habitat destruction and consumption of bushmeat as sustenance for the rebel groups that enter the jungle. The 1st of September celebrates International Primate Day.
Pictured, an orphan red-tailed monkey, named Kitutu, who arrived at the LPRC (a little while ago) in this cage that poachers make with lianas and branches, after being confiscated by the authorities, and that sadly didn’t make it to adulthood.
To help other cases like Kitutu, our volunteers María, Marisa, Mar and Aitana have been giving it their all, and we want to thank their commitment and time. We also want to thank Zoo Aquarium of Madrid for supporting our NGO.
