In any institution that houses animals, communication among staff is extremely important, whether between keepers, veterinarians, maintenance, security, managers, or others. A few months ago, the Barcelona Zoo donated all of its intercom equipment (walkie-talkies) to SOS Primates for technical and improvement reasons. Our NGO found a second life for them at a primate rehabilitation center, and it was at the Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary where they finally reached their destination. In total, 75 intercoms and their corresponding charging stations were donated. As you can see, the staff there is already using them, undoubtedly improving the care of the more than 100 orphaned chimpanzees housed at the sanctuary in Sierra Leone, victims of the bushmeat trade and the trafficking of infants as pets.

We would like to thank the Barcelona Zoo for the donation, especially the Logistics Department, as well as primatologist Rosa Garriga for her management, and the SOS Primates team linked to the Barcelona institution for making this possible.
