The destruction of nature is never-ending. In the last few days the first chimpanzee of 2021, an infant female named Bwafasende, arrived with infected wounds around her waist where she had been tied up by poachers. You can watch the veterinary examination and the removal of this rope in this video. As you know, this suggests the killing of her mother and part of her group, and shows that the hunting of animals for bushmeat doesn’t stop even in the midst of the pandemic. This is the 98th chimpanzee. And if we count the 105 monkeys who also live at Lwiro Primates, the figure is appalling: more than 200 orphans are resident there.

If you still haven’t decided to become an SOS Primates teamer for only €1/month you can join our group. There are now 135 of us, and the money we’re raising is helping to feed these creatures who never should have left the jungle.
