On this #WorldChimpanzeeDay, we were honored to be at the Barcelona Zoo, where we distributed critical information regarding the threats chimpanzees endure in their native habitats, engaged in educational activities with the youngest, and collected generous donations.

Deforestation continues to devastate the environment that chimpanzees rely upon, resulting in a tragic augmentation of orphans, such as Monique, pictured.

This ecological crisis stems from diverse factors, including global population growth and the extraction of natural resources like timber and minerals. Yet, we in the West possess the capacity to improve this situation by reducing consumption, mitigating waste production, and recycling.

We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers, both those who joined us yesterday at the Madrid Zoo Aquarium — María, Natalia, and Marisa — as well as the individuals who lent their time and talents today in Barcelona: Aurora, Nuria, David, Estel, Sara, Mònica, Jose, and Raúl. Of course, our heartfelt appreciation extends to the institutional partners who facilitated the realization of this impactful event.
