SOS Primates will present information about primates and the threats they face at Cines Verdi Barcelona on February 1st. We will attend the premiere of the new film by Claude Barras, the director of My Life as a Zucchini, who has crafted an exceptional ecological fable that blends adventure, values, and heartfelt characters. The story of WILD follows Keria, a young girl who fights to protect the Borneo rainforest from destruction alongside her cousin and a baby orangutan. Although this film is aimed at a family audience, its message resonates with viewers of all ages. Such works are invaluable tools for raising awareness of the challenges primates face in their ecosystems and the detrimental impact forest destruction and land occupation have on local populations. Although we may not be fully aware of it in today’s society, all of this affects our shared planet, contributing to problems such as climate change.
The film reflects one of the most significant values of our NGO, which is to engage local communities in our projects. This Saturday, you could support the Heri Kwetu Center for Women with Disabilities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and assist the more than 200 primates living at the Lwiro Primates Rescue Center and other rescue facilities worldwide. Previously, we collaborated with the Orangutan Foundation, whose work benefitted from our donation to create transport enclosures for rescues and translocation efforts.
We extend our gratitude to Rita&Luca Films for their commitment and for providing us with a platform to contribute to the great work that the movie is doing to inspire the creation of a better world for both primates and the people living close to them. We encourage everyone to see it!
